About this Event
India has a good opportunity to make a substantial contribution to the mainstreaming of impact investing that we will see playing out over the medium term in international capital markets. Given that perspective, we felt that it will be useful to curate a series of dialogues around the Indian impact narrative to reach out to existing as well as prospective stakeholders. The Indian impact investing showcase is the first of such dialogues, and will also form a precursor to our Global investor conference 'Indian Impact Investing Week - Prabhav 2020' coming up in October.
The Indian Impact investing showcase is essentially an investor conference focussed around IIC's first ground-up impact aggregation study that covers over 600 impact enterprises across ten years of investing history, reflections from the government on how can policy priorities unlock greater capital for national goals and views and insights from the industry leaders on the way forward to take impact investing to the next level.
The Past
A comprehensive report on Indian impact sector over the last decade looking at the nature of capital flows and business models, and assessing the cumulative impact of the industry.
The aggregation study attempts to quantify and showcase the cumulative power of the impact created and also celebrate the great stories of innovation that the industry has spawned.
The Present
Keynotes on how can policy priorities and regulations unlock greater private capital for national goals and how global capital is looking at India in the current environment and the perspective of LPs on the evolution of the industry.
The Future
A panel discussion moderated by Vikram Gandhi (Asha Impact, Harvard Business School) with industry leaders like Vineet Rai, Roopa Kudva, Geeta Goel on the key challenges facing the sector and what does it take to further mainstream Indian impact investing.

The India Impact Investing Story, a first of its kind study by the India Impact Investors Council (IIC) and the Asha Impact Trust, summarizes a decade of data on how the industry has evolved in India from 2010 to 2019. The analysis is based on a bottom-up database of venture deals in social enterprises across all significant social sectors in an attempt to answer some essential questions. What is the source of the capital? Where has it flowed? What impact has it had in terms of seeding and scaling up financially viable innovations that provide economic benefit to the common man and woman? The report highlights not just flows into impact investment – in areas like agriculture, education, healthcare, and financial inclusion – but examples of innovation it has created, and its impact on lives.
